Six Months :: Baby Brodie <3

Lovely Vanessa, Andrew & sweet little Brodie.

Most of the time, we capture little ones either at weddings or as part of a Fresh 48 session.

I was not exactly sure what I would be in for with a six-month session. Yes, we are parents but our not-so-little one is now 5 years old, and 4.5 years ago already seems a bit hazy!

It was so much fun! It was as high energy as it looks. Keeping up with energetic Brodie was a challenge and, quite frankly, we love challenges around here.

We kept shooting until the Boss said it was time to quit; not that I blame Brodie - the whole family did super well despite a hot, summery day.

Enjoy!

Wedding: B+K <3 (Lake Moogerah)

Lovely Katelyn and Benjamin <3

What a delightful couple! We met up with Katelyn and Benjamin for a Grill’d lunch date. We had a great chat and time flew. We left looking forward to working with these two.

B&K chose Lake Moogerah for their wedding. It was the perfect location and suited them and their story perfectly. Some things to note:

  • We have included 190+ of our favourites from across the day

  • Benjamin doesn’t like being in front of the camera; we tried not to be obtrusive with him - as we do with everyone! - but, for what it is worth, we think that he killed it

  • Golden hour portraits were important to B&K; they allowed plenty of time for this to take place and, from the resulting images, it was <in our unbiased opinion ;)> time very well spent

  • Benjamin and Katelyn worked closely with Ann from Ceremona Weddings and came up with an excellent timeline that was seamless on the day; Ann is one of these people who has great intuition with photography (from time of day to removing things from the background) and so works really well with whoever you choose to capture your day (B&K mentioned how much they personally recommend Ann)

  • We highly recommend inviting/incorporating little ones into your day but don’t be surprised if they take some of the attention away - the little ones at B&K’s wedding were adorable and hilarious… as you will see below

  • Katelyn was very impressed with Ellen Munro Makeup & Hair - here is a shoutout for lovely Ellen

  • The vehicle is super important to Benjamin. We covered this point during their initial consultation. We made sure to capture it in plenty of shots and pushed ourselves creatively, too

Enjoy!

Ballet & Breast Cancer :: Mother of the Bride & Bride High Tea Inspiration

The story behind this shoot was beautifully written by Tyneale Hahn of Tyneale Hahn Makeup Artist:

///

Ballet.

Is there anything more graceful than a ballerina? Effortless beauty as if dancing on a cloud!

For model bride, Bella - a real ballerina herself, a love affair with dancing started as a little girl at the age of 4. After many years of full-time training dedicated to her craft, she now dances & trains with the elite at Queensland National Ballet School - in addition, teaching some classes. Bella entrusted the dream team to create her vision - Tyneale & Emily, lead by Nadja of Le Sans Souci.

On this particular day, our bridal muse, Bella, featured special moments with her mum, Debbie Dargusch. The pink reference branched much further & is profoundly sentimental: her mother - the beautiful smiling and strong woman - is a real-life breast cancer survivor. Therefore, the pink is a nod to Debbie's journey and happens to be both of their favourite colour! Take note of the sweet pink surprise, too - A Box of Sweets. Yes, both share a love for the sweetest things in life!

Combine this elegance with all things pastel pink-inspired and can you just imagine the resulting mother & daughter bridal? Surrounded by the beautiful drapping sleeve and flowing train created by Sew Master Fashions (complete with a pastel pink veil), Nadja from Le Sans Souci added the perfect finishing touch: a hand-stitched bodice of dried blooms.

On the picturesque grounds of Gabbinbar Homstead, Bride and Mother prepared for the day in the Bridal Retreat, indulged in a sweet morning tea together in the Conservatory (later to be set for the Reception), and shared afternoon delights with guests on the Governor’s Lawn post-Ceremony.

There were so many moments of magic to retell. The ‘Alice in Wonderland’ moment of upside floating blooms - peonies & tulips - that was suspended above the mini celebration cake & the wedding cake. In addition, the cascading silks & butterflies that descended from the central chandelier. Stylist and florist, Nadja, featured an incredible collection of roses - Pure Bliss, Fine Silk, Prix de L’Amour, Yours Truly, Perfume de Grande, Vintage Blush, Unforgettable, Cottage Charm, Victorian Pearl, and Moonstone Gem. Nadja dreams up the most gorgeous floral recipes and is truly the Queen of Flowers.

The bridal look was flawless and detailed with the softness of pinks. The hair style chosen was a textured inspiration of the ballerina bun - complete with fresh roses pinned into the style. The look was created by artist Tyneale.

The stationery suite included a heartfelt letter from Bride to Mother and was handcrafted by Martha Scribes. The crystal-encrusted pointe shoes were meticulously decorated by Milibelle. Matching earrings were created by Kailie Peters for both Mother & Daughter.

The delicious morning tea featured Amour Platters' delicacies and Cracked Lustre's cupcakes. Cake artist Jillicious created a beautiful mini celebration cake for Mother & Bride to cut, as well as the wedding cake.

Emily, of Poppy & Sage Photography, enjoyed every minute of capturing all these precious moments. It is a theme close to her heart - her young daughter, Chloe, is an aspiring ballerina.

Please enjoy the moments of this wonderful day!

Vaccination Status & Wedding Invitations

Who would have guessed that we would be living in the world that we are today? Planning a wedding is stressful and can be alienating depending on individual circumstances. However, there is a new curveball: asking family/friends/wedding guests for their vaccination status - or what has been dubbed navigating the world of ‘vaccine etiquette’. It is a tricky, sensitive position to be in. As always, kindness and respect will go a long way. Communication will, too. Like most things in life, you cannot control what other people do (or do not do) but you can control how you behave/respond. We have done some research and found different ways of approaching this situation. Hope one of these ideas resonates with/works for you and your loved ones:

We want to wish you all the best with how you go about approaching this situation we are all in. Here is hoping that there is less stress for everyone around the corner. <3
